Heems Solar Power Plant Since 1822

The Heems firm, established in 1822 , is one of the oldest pet specialty stores in the Netherlands.

On May 1, 1997, the title “Purveyor to the Royal Household” was awarded on the occasion of the 175th anniversary. The sixth generation is now at the helm.

In August 2017, the Heems firm moved to a new store at Havenstraat 49 in Heemstede.

In the new energy-efficient building, Heems has already taken various measures to become a sustainable company. This is achieved through excellent insulation, the use of LED lighting, recirculating air heating, and energy-efficient aquarium pumps. As of October 18, 2018, the 240 solar panels on the flat roof can be added to this. With this, Heems becomes – after the Dinkelhoeve – the second local entrepreneur to become a Solar Power Supplier by making useful use of his roof.
